Thanks to everyone who stopped by the "party" yesterday. An odd experiment, I know, but it did put me in a holiday frame of mind - hope it did for you, too!
If you missed it yesterday, don't worry, there's leftovers - help yourself! And the beauty of a blog party is there isn't a mess to clean up!

Well, no party for me. And no Vespers concert at the university. El Diablo (my 5-year-old) woke up crying and shortly thereafter puking at 1 a.m. Sunday morning. So we sat on the cold hard bathroom floor (well, I sat on the cold hard bathroom floor, he sat in my nice warm cushy lap!) for a good hour before we decided he might not puke again and could go back to bed. But mom then had to sit in the somewhat softer bed of El Diablo with ED still in my lap and me in a sleeveless t-shirt (why, you ask in Kansas in December?? I don't have an excuse, stop criticizing my pajamas!) with no way to reach another blanket. An hour later I stole the lap quilt on his headboard and managed to cover at least one freezing shoulder.
Finally at 4 a.m. we decided he could sleep alone. At 5:45, just as the Mighty Hunter was off in pursuit of deer with antlers, El D gets up and announces there is poop in his drawers. Thus began the 6 hour saga of the d-word.
So, while it's not a good excuse, I was probably dozing off while doing dishes by hand (since my dishwasher died) or being forced to play Monopoly Junior.
I shoulda been there!

Ohhhhhh, Donna. I am so, so sorry. I hope ED feels better soon (and that you catch up on your sleep, too!)
Check this--thing number three in the list of annoyances this week/weekend: The Mighty Hunter got his deer tonight shortly after we paid for our new dishwasher. Or should I say the deer got him? We were about 2 miles ahead of him on the highway when he calls to say he hit one. So, add a new quarter panel and driver's side door to the list of things to do. At least he wasn't hurt and the car is driveable and we have insurance and we didn't raise the deductibles when we added the van to the coverage last month. Whew! I am ready for bed!
I'm sorry I missed the party. I kinda dropped out for a few days there. The bad thing about dropping out of the blog cycle is, my god, the backlog! I'll be here all night trying to catch up. Got any beer left?
Not only is there beer left, but it appears that Donna has brought some deer steaks for us, as well! (Sorry about your car, Donna)
