Auntie Em, Auntie Em!!!!

Hey, guess where a tornado touched down today? Vancouver, USA, that's where! We were untouched in our neighborhood and at school, but we did go into lockdown at school.

Fuh-reaky.

totally freaky! we had a tornado watch earlier in the week -- which is completely bizarre for January.

we are so baked and ready to burn, this little planet of ours. breaks my heart.

My kids have a huge fear of tornadoes. They get all neurotic and stressed when the word "Dallas" is mentioned (don't get me started on what it took to get them in the car to go TO Dallas in September) because somehow they heard that Dallas is the area of Texas where tornadoes occur.

New England kids. Throw a hurricane or blizzard at us, and we're fine. Just don't mention tornado.

Whoa! I had heard about the SE but not about you!! Glad everyone is OK. We had a warning last fall during which I actually saw the funnel cloud--first time in my 40 years that I actually saw one.

Tracey, even growing up here I was terrified of tornados. My anxiety was not helped by finding out at a young age that tornados had an eye...I thought that meant it could look for me hiding in the basement!! Still not fond of the things, but we only have truly serious warnings once or twice a year here in the middle of it all.

I saw that on the news this morning and thought, isn't that where the mcq's live? Nah, I told myself. They live in Oregon, not Washington! So you see, you were perfectly safe the whole time.

odd -- I was just talking today with someone about my "preference" for hurricanes and tornados over earthquakes, since you get a little warning usually with the former, but I've only experienced the 'quakes, so perhaps I'm being stupid. Glad y'all are OK!

Amazingly, there were no injuries. Except when a flying chair him me in the hand. Wait, that wasn't from the tornado.
